LECTURE: A Butterfly Garden

A garden filled with butterflies offers an indescribable sensorial experience akin to that of music and art.  They float with the breeze, flitting from flower to flower - such natural grace and beauty!

But the butterfly does not exist for us.  Their sole purpose is urgent – to mate and lay eggs, in just a few weeks.  To maximize the butterflies you draw to your garden, you should have plants that will provide food for their babies – the caterpillars, as well as beautiful flowers that provide nectar for the adult butterflies.

This talk will discuss the best New England plants to include in a butterfly garden.  Caterpillar host and adult butterfly nectar plants will be discussed, and options for arranging them for aesthetic and butterfly value.
